With more than 30 years’ experience, Smoothsilkyskins are the pros of the IPL hair removal world. Not only do we design and make our products all in the UK, but we also carry out our own research and even run our own clinical trials.
What’s the SmoothsilkySkins Story?
Way back in 1989, a scientist tripped across the basis of light-based hair removal technology when he accidentally ran a laser beam across his forearm and was surprised to spot that the hair didn’t grow back. He went on to develop the world’s first hair removal lasers, and in 2002, he collaborated with 3 other entrepreneurs (a researcher, a technologist and a businessman, to be particular) to create the SmoothsilkySkins brand.
The rest, as they say, is history.
What Makes SmoothsilkySkins Unique?
Not only SmoothsilkySkins is the experts of IPL, it’s all we do.

With our very own clinical suites on site at HQ, our team work non-stop to ensure that the technology we’re evolving works to its full potential, leaving no stone unturned in the mission for long-lasting hair reduction.
We even complete tests in vitro (that’s in glass to you and me!) to better understand the science behind the technology and its interaction with the skin, along with participating in regular collaborations with international experts in aesthetic laser and surgical skin treatments, to make sure we’re always one step ahead of the hair removal crowd.
